1. In a nutshell, what is Ruberto, Israel & Weiner all about?
We are a law firm in the North End with knowledge and experience in digital technology and media and business. We understand technology, media, IT and IP in a business context. Our firm can help MITX members in transactions and strategy including, strategic partnering, digital media and technology distribution, venture finance, employment, licensing, IP and M&A.
Our Technology Business Group is headed by Gene Landy, who is a graduate of MIT and Harvard Law and specializes. He is the author of the IT/Digital Legal Companion, a recently-published entrepreneur’s guide to digital technology and media law (available on Amazon.com).
2. How was Ruberto, Israel & Weiner founded and what inspired its creation?
The firm has three decades of experience. It has always been an effective, efficient and cost-effective alternative to more expensive "downtown" firms.
3. What makes Ruberto, Israel & Weiner different than other companies in your Market space?
We have more depth in digital technology and media than other firms. Our knowledge base in the field is comparable to Silicon Valley firms, to which we are a cost effective alternative. We use an efficient lean staffing model.
4. What has been Ruberto, Israel & Weiner’s greatest accomplishment in 2008?
(1) The publication of the IT/Digital Legal Companion (mentioned above); (2) greater national and international expansion of our business, which now includes US West Coast, Indian and UK digital technology firms, and (3) new clients in web, social web, and SaaS (software-as-a-service) businesses.
5. What is Ruberto, Israel & Weiner doing for outreach?
We have presented or plan to provide presentations in various business forums, including MTLC, SWaNH, the SaaS University conferences in Waltham MA and San Francisco, and the Comsnets Conference in Bangalore.
6. What is the biggest challenge you face in the marketplace today?
The digital technology and media marketplace is constantly growing and changing. We need to keep in touch with our clients and the community to keep on top of the trends.
7. Why are you a MITX member?
We are a MITX member and sponsor because helps us find the clients that need our services and because it helps promote and improve the digital technology and media space.
