The Annual MITX Awards Show is an exchange of ideas and connections with hundreds of the best and brightest minds in the digital marketing, media, and technology innovation community. This year, attendees gathered at Royale, Boston for the live ceremony, hosted by comedian James P. Connelly. This category recognizes the creative thinkers who are truly employing AR/VR/MR thoughtfully, and playing to the strengths of the medium, vs taking an inherently 2D experience.

Best Connected Objects Tech (IoT)

The Internet of Things seamlessly meshes the physical and digital world. This award recognizes a tech team that has created a product or experience which augments experiences and makes them smarter through the use of telemetry, data tracking and alerts, or wiring otherwise static parts of our physical world to make our lives better.

Best Content Marketing Program

Entries in this category use content channels to drive engagement and awareness. Successful campaigns make the most of these channels as a creative medium that entertains, educates, and enhances the user experience.

Best Employee Efficiency Technology

This category recognizes innovative technologies that are fundamentally improving how organizations (and their employees) get things done — through collaboration, communication, efficiency and overall output of their employees or through making their employees daily routines easier with tools and processes to aid in benefits management, HR related tasks or job responsibilities.

Best Product Technology

Innovative technologies have made it easier for companies to do business with their customers, thereby not only making our work lives easier and more effective, but ultimately our customers happier. This category recognizes innovative product technologies that are fundamentally improving how organizations interact and engage with their customers.

Best Service Technology

Innovative technologies have made it easier for companies to do business with their customers, thereby not only making our work lives easier and more effective, but ultimately our customers happier. This category recognizes service technology innovations that help make our lives richer and easier as consumers.

Best Technology Innovation Concept

Have you come up with a brilliant idea using technology and design to make life better, simpler easier or more fun? Have you clearly identified a problem, researched the existing market and designed and developed a working prototype, app, website or model? This award is for teams who have taken their design idea a step further whether or not it was saw the light of day (or hasn’t yet launched) and built an app, website, model or working prototype of part of their concept.

Best Technology Innovation of the Year

In years past technology was a tool to aid business. But today, tech drives business. This award recognizes a technology service or product new to market in 2017. Submissions should illustrate how the tech product or service is different and innovative, has a viable implementation and growth strategy, and provides value to consumers or businesses.

Best Use of AI or Machine Learning

Whether optimizing advertising effectiveness, building interactive assistants, automating routing tasks, or even building cars that drive themselves, companies are transforming our lives with predictive analytics, AI, and machine learning. This award recognizes an organization that uses these tools to create an impactful experience or technology for their customer.

Best Use of Social

We are presented daily with new sets of tools and opportunities to shape conversations that people are having with both organizations and one another. This category recognizes exciting and effective approaches to shaping social conversation in support of marketing efforts, whether through a single channel or multiple, interconnected platforms.

Best User Experience (UX) Design

Think of this as the “Steve Jobs was right” award. Interface and usability design are critical to users as they embrace new technology products, whether on the desktop, tablet or handheld. Winners in this category will feature engaging, intuitive navigation, incorporate “state of the art” design practices that enhance the overall user experience and simplify the use of the product.

Best Website Design or Redesign

This category showcases best in class websites built for the end user. This could be a website design, redesign, or a campaign landing page. These sites use innovative ways to drive engagement and/or conversion, while showcasing their brand’s value.

Customer Experience (CX) – Building a Customer-Centric Culture

Happy customers define company success. This category measures how companies are building and delivering a customer centric culture through; delivering “best of breed” customer experience, driving employee engagement and involvement, delivering ongoing customer experience interaction training, developing internal communication strategies and tactics, and sharing stories of customer experience excellence.

Disruptive Genius: Individual or Company

This award celebrates an individual or organization that is taking the New England innovation economy to new heights! This company or individual celebrates unconventional thinking, connects the dots and explores the questions others have not.

New England is home to some of the leading academic institutions and leaders in the country. This category is dedicated to recognizing marketing initiatives that promote colleges and universities, programs within a school, or online learning platforms or products.

Financial Services & Insurance Marketing

A highly regulated and competitive industry, financial services and insurance marketers must be both creative and engaging to capture their audiences. This category highlights efforts created for companies that market or sell financial or insurance products or services.

Future Leaders Group Influencer Award

You hear a lot about those who change the world in flashy ways. This award celebrates an individual that, at an early age, is making positive strides to challenge the status quo and make a difference in their community. It is about the people that are changing Boston from within the systems they operate in and influencing others to do the same. This award is selected by the MITX Future Leaders Group, who are themselves making a difference in the Boston community.

Digitally-enabled, health conscious consumers are expecting more than ever. Entries in this high-growth category demonstrate their innovation in marketing fitness, health and wellness products, services, information resources and/or facilities.

The local tech innovation community has established itself as a national powerhouse and it is all because of fantastic people like you. It’s no longer “digital marketing,” rather “marketing in a digital world.” So advertisers must take advantage of the benefits digital can provide using the latest and greatest advertising technology. This category spotlights the innovative platforms that are revolutionizing how to get the right message at the right time to the right people.

Most Innovative Mobile Application or Solution

What are companies doing to enable building connections between the mobile user and businesses or other enterprise technologies? This category rewards products and platforms that make work and/or personal lives better.

Most Strategic Use of Data Driving Audience Targeting or Personalization

Know what your customers are doing is half the battle, giving them the right content and features at the right time is what separates a good experience from a great one. This categories showcases how companies are leveraging customer insights to deliver contextually relevant experiences to customers.

Multi-Channel Digital Customer Experience

Customer experience is a vital strategic driver for all businesses.  It involves the “cumulative impact of multiple touchpoints” over the course of a customer’s interaction with an organization. Some companies are known to segment the customer experience into interactions through the web and social media, while others define human interaction such as over-the-phone, face-to-face and other interactions as part of their whole customer experience. This award recognizes those organizations that have found a way to deliver a dynamic customer experience across digital channels that yielded substantial ROI.

Nonprofit & Government Marketing

The marketing initiatives in this category include those created for or by a nonprofit organization, fundraising and charity program, or government agency. This category acknowledges the innovative campaigns that are directly or indirectly driving social or civic impact.

Online Video Marketing

Online video can be funny, informative, far-fetched or all of the above. Entries in this category use online video as a content channel to drive engagement and awareness for a brand. Successful campaigns make the most of video as a creative medium that entertains and educates.

Promise Award

The Promise Award is presented to a start-up company whose innovative solutions show promise to make a significant business impact. The promise awards are available for each of the general categories and we invite you to consider the impact this award can have for you and your business.

This category acknowledges the innovative campaigns that are directly or indirectly driving social impact.

Technology Innovation in Retail & eCommerce

Data driven product design, predictive commerce, voice interfaces, personalized products, mobile payments and more: these game changers have transformed, and continue to transform, the retail and eCommerce world. This category rewards the digital disruptors that are driving the furious innovation within our richly evolving eCommerce sector.

Travel, Entertainment & Leisure Marketing

It’s not difficult to love marketing that promotes a good time. This category honors unforgettable marketing efforts created for businesses in the hospitality, travel or tourism industries (such as hotels and airlines) and entertainment and leisure industry (such as restaurants, movie theaters, casinos, gaming, and museums).

Bigger, bolder, and more interactive than ever, the MITX Awards celebrate and awards New England’s thriving digital innovation ecosystem in more than 25 categories.
To keep the Awards process impartial, MITX asks a number of industry experts to independently evaluate and judge each entry. The judges panel is made up of leaders hailing from different industries and disciplines with a focus on digital marketing, technology and innovation.
